Not many people are aware that there's really such a thing as an online university . At first, i thought it was not legitimate at all, but after seeing Capella University, I started to get curious about online education. I recommended it to my sister who is currently busy with work , but she would still love to get another degree , so the option of online education is the best. The University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and offers different courses for every individual. We will inquire about their programs anytime this week, and hopefully my sister can start with her course by next month. If everything will work out well , then maybe i should consider getting an online degree too.

A beach vacation is what we need
Eventhough summer maybe a few months away from now , I can’t help buy to plan a vacation for our family. And when I say vacation, I am talking about beach, sun , sand and good food. This will be our first trip with a toddler and an infant, so I am carefully planning everything from the transportation to accommodations. Cleanliness and complete facilities would be my top consideration now, since it’s not easy to go to the beach with 2 kids already. I recently saw a Family Friendly Vacation package online and I am considering this as one of my options now. Everything is complete from room, food , and additional activities that my toddler will surely enjoy. . They have cribs, strollers, sterilizers, beach games, coloring books and even kiddie bathrobes. It will be a hassle- free vacation for us since I don’t have to pack a lot of stuff. Hopefully we can travel in the next 3 months because we can’t wait to see the white sand, and lounge around the beachfront.

Drink Healthy
The health of my kids is something that I always put into priority. I see to it that they eat healthy, be up to date with their immunization and I monitor them round the clock once they are sick. But still, I know that one way or another, they will get sick later on. But nothing beats being cautious and vigilant. One thing that I really check in our house is the drinking water. personally I have a poor digesting stomach, so until now I can only drink distilled ones, same goes for my kids. It's okay to pay a few extra bucks in getting a good drinking water. Just recently, I bought a Water Softener online , and this is what I plan to use for cooking needs. The Water softener is manufactured by LifeSource, they specialize on residential or commercial water system. They have a unique cleaning system. No salt, no chemicals or magnets are applied during the process so you are guaranteed of its high quality. Many households are now using this water softener as i have seen their testimonials on how this product provides safety for their families. They swear on its efficiency. This is really one great investment for the family.

Her First ER trip
January 22, 2009 .
I woke up at 5 in the morning because I heard her cry for milk.As I positioned her for breastfeeding, I felt that her temperature was a bit feverish. She has colds since Monday, so I am thinking that this slight fever could be because of the colds. I woke up my husband and asked him to get the thermometer, and her temperature was 37.8 C. I tried to freshen her up and after feeding, she was in deep slumber. But the slight fever didn't dropped at all, so we decided to take her to the Emergency Room of UST at 2pm.
Horrible horrible traffic ! We got there after almost an hour, well in fact we could have been there in 15 mins (kasama na slight traffic jan ha). Her fever didn't even reached 38C, but I dont have plans of waiting for that to happen so we rushed her to the ER. Why ER? Her pedia doesnt have a clinic during Thursdays kasi :)
So anyway, we underwent the usual ER routine , Q & A etc etc. She had a CBC test , and all the results were normal. She was just sleeping then , but she cried when she had blood extraction. They pricked her right footie. So far, they say its viral. But I am still asked to closely monitor her breathing pattern (since we have a history of asthma) , milk intake , cough and colds etc. Upon reaching home , i gave her sponge bath and the doctors told me that I can always freshen her up with sponge bath , and if the fever will reach 38C, I can give Paracetamol.
As of writing, her temp is 36.4 and hopefully it wont reach more than 37.5 again. I am just sooo paranoid and panicky lately. I never thought that I would still act like a new mom with my 2nd baby. Ang hirap pag sila may sakit. Anyway, she's better now, hopefully , tuloy tuloy na. Her milk intake didnt subside either. She's 7 kilos at 2 months and 3 weeks :)

Shower Chairs
Last weekend, I went to the medical supplies store with my aunt because we are looking for a chair that looks like the shower chairs being used at the hospital. He needs it for my uncle who is currently recovering from an operation. He's having a hard time at the shower, so we thought of getting a shower chair to give him comfort and safety. We bought a bench type that can be folded to save some space at the bathroom. I never thought that there's a lot of chairs available and of course, the price varies according to style, design and functionality.

Pretty Babe
She's 2 months and 3 weeks now. She coos and smiles more often, and yeah, she's beginning to look like me :) I recently arranged her clothes, I kept some to make way for bigger ones. Size 6M fits her nicely, not to loose and not too fit. Next time that I'll do some shopping, I'll get 9M - 12M :) Lately, she's sleeping through the night also, she only cries for milk and if she's wet. In a few weeks, I am seeing more comfort in taking care of her. Hopefully I'll have more time to sleep and I can get back to my old shape too. Im doing some simple exercises at home since I can't take Lipovox yet because I'm breastfeeding.
I will post more pics of my little girl soon.

Mesothelioma
Mesothelioma is an asbestos - caused cancer of the membranes that surround many of the body’s vital organs. I recently researched about this because I am helping out a friend with her thesis for medical school. Symptoms and treatments were discussed at the website and they even provide support group not only to the patients but to the parents and families as well. There's even Mesothelioma lawyer that helps the patient in filing asbestos lawsuits. Hopefully, my friend will finish her thesis on time and I wish her all the luck in her defense. She worked hard for this and she deserves to get good grades too.

Health Check
I admit that im not paying much attention with my health lately. I've been a lot of chips and chocolates and i know that's one of the reason why I cant go back to my pre-pregnancy weight. Since I am still breastfeeding my daughter , i also want to eat healthy from now on. As much as I really wanted to try some fat burner that I can easily get online, I would need to pass now since my daughter directly feeds from me. Maybe after a few months, I won't shed off a few extra pounds, then I will really consider these fat burners.

House Cleaning
After the holidays, i feel like our house got crowded with clutter. I received 4 balikbayan boxes from my mom since October, and 2 boxes are still here with random stuff! So I decided to do a little cleaning around the house. I disposed a few clothes and shoes to relatives , then I packed some of the toys that the little boy is not using anymore. I transferred the stereo cabinet from the living room to the bedroom. I need to make way for some new items that we got as gifts.
Next week, I will arrange the clothes of the kids. This part is what I enjoy the most!

Window Blinds
Finally, the newly renovated house of my mother in law will be blessed next week. We are finalizing a few decors in preparation for the house warming so we need to hit the mall tomorrow. We need a table runner , a few vases and toiletries for the guests washroom. Then we will go to our supplier for the Bamboo Blinds that we ordered, it is custom made and I can't wait to see their final product. We are trying out the blinds instead of the traditional curtains because the bamboo concept would match the theme of the house. Hopefully we can finish up everything by tomorrow. I can't wait to take pictures around the house.

Litratong Pinoy - Asul

Reflux on Babies
A few days after I gave birth to Dominique, I have observed that she frequently spits milk and its something not normal i know since Joaqui did not experienced that, We went to her pedia and I was informed that she could have a case of reflux. We also changed her milk to see if there will be some improvement. I got really worried as the son of my cousin has it too, and i know how they had a hard time dealing with it. So i researched online, and here's a little something to share from Babycentre and about.com
Reflux is the word used to describe what happens when the stomach contents come back up into the gullet or even into the mouth.
Gastroesophageal Reflux (GER) is a medical term doctors use to describe a condition where food and stomach acid flow back up (reflux) into the esophagus. A ring of muscles at the bottom of the esophagus called the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) opens and closes to allow food to enter the stomach. The LES opens to release gas after meals. The LES may also allow stomach contents to flow back into the esophagus and out the mouth. Parents often see the result as spitting up, though vomiting may also occur. GER can occur at times other than during or shortly after a feeding.
I will be posting more about reflux here and how Dominique is coping with it :) She improved a lot in 2 months. She even got a little overweight which is not common with reflux babies :)

Coins Collection
Last Christmas I gave my dad something that would add up to his coin collection. I got him a silver coin from Monaco Rare Coin of the Monex Family. I saw it while I was browsing for gifts online and I cant help but love their products. I immediately contact the coin dealer to inquire and know more details about the coin. I was given all the information i need and i learned that these coins are investments too. Now i understand why my dad collects coins. So i ordered right away and even told the representative that its a gift for my dad. It arrived just in time for Christmas and as my dad opened the package , i've seen how he appreciated my gift. Maybe next time i'll give him another coin since there are some other designs up for sale.

Credit and Debt Consolidation
Ever had problems with your credit card debts and some other finances? This time of the year, most accounts may have reached it's maximum limit due to shopping during the holidays. As we all know, paying our cards in full would be the best option to avoid paying for the high interest. But in reality, sometimes its just hard to do that , as we have some other expenses too. A friend of mine recently had debt consolidation to organize her debts , loans and liabilities. She is seeing this as the most effective way to finally cut down her obligations. A medical bill debt contributed a big chunk in her account. She had a health care plan, but not all expenses were paid by their company , so she used her credit card to settle everything. Fortunately, government debt help was also provided to assist her and it really helped lessen her dues. Now she looks forward for a great year with lesser debts after she consolidated everything. In no time she will be debt free.

Hello Hello
The princess is sick. She's coughing hard since last night and she even vomited once this early morning from too much coughing. Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! I can feel now that we are having another asthmatic baby in the family. Blame it on our genes, Gelo was asthmatic til he was 7 and until now I have episodes too. Later we will go to her pedia so she will have proper medication already. For the meantime, here's a picture of the lil girl in her rocker. So far she's loving it , and would even sleep longer there during daytime.

Her First Christmas
During Christmas Day itself, we went to mass in the morning. The kids are in red, while Gelo and I naman in blue. Lookie here. Then we just stayed home the rest of the day. A few of my cousins arrived , Gelo assembled his gift for Joaqui , took a nap and welcomed some other friends during dinner time. It was a day with family and friends, and the princess was so cooperative and in her best mood the entire day. Lucky me!
