Reflux on Babies

A few days after I gave birth to Dominique, I have observed that she frequently spits milk and its something not normal i know since Joaqui did not experienced that, We went to her pedia and I was informed that she could have a case of reflux. We also changed her milk to see if there will be some improvement. I got really worried as the son of my cousin has it too, and i know how they had a hard time dealing with it. So i researched online, and here's a little something to share from Babycentre and about.com

Reflux is the word used to describe what happens when the stomach contents come back up into the gullet or even into the mouth.

Gastroesophageal Reflux (GER) is a medical term doctors use to describe a condition where food and stomach acid flow back up (reflux) into the esophagus. A ring of muscles at the bottom of the esophagus called the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) opens and closes to allow food to enter the stomach. The LES opens to release gas after meals. The LES may also allow stomach contents to flow back into the esophagus and out the mouth. Parents often see the result as spitting up, though vomiting may also occur. GER can occur at times other than during or shortly after a feeding.

I will be posting more about reflux here and how Dominique is coping with it :) She improved a lot in 2 months. She even got a little overweight which is not common with reflux babies :)

Si asher din medyo matindi ang reflux nun pero he outgrew it. Sabi ni pedia medyo common siya talaga sa mga newborn babies since di pa ganun kadeveloped ang digestive system nila. She advised to have him burp every after feeding atsaka pag nagdede dapat elevated. Wag siyang ifeed na nakahiga na nakaflat.
